AudioFlow Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy for AudioFlow Studio
Effective date: August 25, 2026
AudioFlow Studio ("the app," "we," "us") is a macOS menu-bar utility that adjusts
per-app volume, routes audio, applies a microphone noise gate, and records and
edits audio - all on your Mac. This policy explains how the app handles your
information. In short: the app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal
data.
INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
AudioFlow Studio does not collect, store on our servers, or transmit any personal
information. Specifically:
- We do not operate any servers, and the app sends no data about you anywhere. The
app's only network activity is Apple's own In-App Purchase verification and
opening this policy in your browser when you tap the link.
- We do not use analytics, tracking, advertising, or crash-reporting services.
- We do not include any third-party software that collects data.
- We do not create user accounts or ask you to sign in.
AUDIO ACCESS AND PROCESSING
To provide its core features, the app accesses:
- Application audio, using Apple's Core Audio process-tap APIs, to adjust and route
the sound of other apps.
- Application and system audio, using Apple's ScreenCaptureKit framework, when you
record. See "Screen Recording Permission" below.
- Microphone audio, when you enable microphone features such as the noise gate,
auto-ducking, or recording.
All audio is processed in real time and entirely on your device. Audio is never
sent to us or to any third party. Nothing is recorded or saved unless you explicitly
start a recording.
SCREEN RECORDING PERMISSION
macOS requires the Screen Recording permission for any app that captures another
app's audio through Apple's ScreenCaptureKit framework, and AudioFlow Studio
requests it for that reason only.
AudioFlow Studio does not capture, store, transmit, or view your screen, windows,
window titles, or any image of your display; the capture stream's video portion is
reduced to the smallest size macOS allows and discarded on arrival. Only audio is
written, and only to a file on your own Mac.
You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security
> Screen & System Audio Recording; doing so disables recording only.
RECORDINGS AND EXPORTED FILES
Recordings are saved automatically into the app's own private storage on your Mac,
in a folder named "AudioFlow Recordings." When you export or save an edited file,
it goes to the location you choose. In both cases the files stay on your device
(and any storage or iCloud you have configured through macOS); we have no access
to them, they are never uploaded to us, and you decide how long to keep them.
Deleting a file in Finder removes it permanently.
SETTINGS STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
The app saves its own preferences - such as hotkeys, presets, and recording quality
- locally on your Mac using macOS's standard settings storage. These contain no
personal information and are never transmitted.
PURCHASES
AudioFlow Studio offers optional paid upgrades (subscriptions and a one-time
purchase) through Apple's In-App Purchase system. All payment and billing
information is handled directly by Apple - we never see or receive your payment
details. Purchase and subscription status is verified on your device using Apple's
StoreKit. Apple's handling of this information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
(https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).
PERMISSIONS
macOS may ask your permission for microphone access, audio capture, screen
recording (required for audio capture, as described above), and file access. These
permissions exist solely to provide the features described above. You can review or
revoke them at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
DATA SHARING
We do not sell, rent, or share any personal information, because we do not collect
any. No audio, no recording, and no screen or window data is ever shared with any
third party.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The app is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect any information
from anyone, including children under 13.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy if the app's functionality changes. Updates will be posted
at this location with a revised effective date.
