Privacy Policy — UnblockPiP: Float Video Player

UnblockPiP lets you play any web video in a floating Picture in Picture window. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, and who receives it.

In short: UnblockPiP has no accounts and no server of our own. Your video links, page titles and browsing activity never leave your device. The only data that leaves your device goes to Apple (for purchases), to an analytics provider in anonymised form, and — only if you choose to watch an optional ad — to Google's advertising service.

1. Who we are

2. What stays on your device

The following is stored locally, in an App Group container shared only between the UnblockPiP app, its Safari extension, its Share extension and its widget. It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else:

  • Recently shared video links and page titles (up to 30 entries), so you can replay them.
  • Playback resume positions for videos opened in the in-app player.
  • Your daily free Picture in Picture counter, and any extra plays earned by watching a rewarded ad.
  • Your subscription or purchase status.
  • Safari extension preferences: which controls appear, the panel theme, and your per-site settings.
  • Onboarding answers (the sites and goals you selected), onboarding and activation markers.
  • Local diagnostic counters when playback fails, so the app can show you what went wrong.

You can erase all of it at any time by deleting the app.

3. What the Safari extension does

The extension runs on video pages to find the video and add Picture in Picture controls. It reads page content only to do that, on the device, while you are on the page. It does not send page contents, URLs, titles or your browsing history anywhere.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

UnblockPiP shows no banner ads, no pop-up ads, and no ads during playback. There is exactly one ad in the app: an optional rewarded video. If you are on the free tier and have used your free Picture in Picture plays for the day, you may choose to watch a short ad to earn one more play. You never have to watch it — it is an alternative to subscribing or waiting until tomorrow.

Ads are served by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). The advertising SDK does not start when you launch the app. It starts only when you reach the screen that offers you the ad, and an ad is fetched at that moment so that it can play without a wait. If you never reach that screen, no ad is ever requested.

When an ad is requested, Google may receive:

  • Your IP address, and an approximate location inferred from it.
  • Device and app information: device model, operating system version, language, app identifier and SDK version.
  • Device identifiers, including the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allowed tracking when asked (see section 6), and a vendor-specific identifier.
  • Ad events: that an ad was requested, shown, watched or dismissed, and whether the reward was earned.
  • Signals used to detect invalid or fraudulent ad traffic.

We do not send Google your video links, page titles, browsing history, Safari extension activity or in-app video activity.

5. Consent for advertising (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the first time UnblockPiP is about to request an ad it shows a consent form provided by Google's User Messaging Platform. You choose there whether your data may be used for personalised advertising, and you can review each purpose and each advertising partner under "Manage options". If you do not consent, no personalised ad request is made.

Your choice is stored on your device. You can change or withdraw it at any time: open UnblockPiP and tap Manage Ad Privacy at the bottom of the main screen.

6. App Tracking Transparency

Apple requires your permission before an app may use the advertising identifier (IDFA) to track you across apps and websites. UnblockPiP asks once, with Apple's standard prompt. If you decline, the app and its partners do not receive the IDFA, and ads you see are non-personalised. You can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

7. Analytics (TelemetryDeck)

To understand which features are used and where people get stuck, UnblockPiP sends anonymised usage signals to TelemetryDeck. These are event names with non-identifying parameters — for example that the paywall was shown and from which screen, that onboarding was completed, or that a subscription started. TelemetryDeck does not use the advertising identifier and does not receive your video links, page titles, or the domains you visit. See the TelemetryDeck privacy policy.

8. Install measurement (Meta)

UnblockPiP includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK, used only to measure whether an advertising campaign led to an app install. If you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, the SDK may collect identifiers such as your device advertising identifier and app install and open events for that measurement. If you decline, advertiser tracking is disabled for the SDK. We do not use the SDK to send your browsing history, video links, page titles, Safari extension activity, or in-app video activity. 9. Purchases

Subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment card, billing address or Apple Account credentials. The app receives only the result — whether an entitlement is active and when it expires — from Apple's StoreKit, and stores that on your device. See the Apple Privacy Policy.

10. iCloud

If you bought UnblockPiP before it became a subscription app, a single flag recording that lifetime access may be stored in Apple's iCloud key-value storage so your access follows you to your other devices. It contains no personal data and no video activity.

11. Notifications and Siri

Reminders and tips are scheduled and delivered locally on your device; nothing is sent to a server to produce them. If you use Siri or Shortcuts to open a video in Picture in Picture, that interaction is handled by iOS on your device.

12. What we never collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, phone number or other contact information. We do not create user accounts.
  • We do not send your video links, page titles, browsing history, Safari extension activity or in-app video activity to us or to any third party.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera or device location. The app never requests location permission; Google may infer an approximate location from your IP address when an ad is requested, as described in section 4.
  • We operate no server of our own and hold no database of users.

13. Children

UnblockPiP is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. The app is rated for a general audience and ad requests are not tagged as child-directed. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, contact us and we will address it.

14. Retention and deletion

Data stored on your device remains until you delete it or delete the app. Deleting UnblockPiP removes the App Group container, including your shared-video list, counters and extension settings. Data held by Apple, Google, Meta or TelemetryDeck is retained according to their own policies, linked above; requests about that data can be made to them directly, and we will help where we can.

15. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Because UnblockPiP holds no personal data on any server we control, most such requests concern our partners: for advertising, use Manage Ad Privacy in the app to change or withdraw consent, and iOS Settings to change your tracking choice. 16. Third-party sites

UnblockPiP plays video from websites you choose. Those sites and Safari itself are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

17. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
