Privacy Policy — UnblockPiP

Last updated: May 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how UnblockPiP ("the App", "we", "us", "our"), developed by Valeriya Pekar, handles your information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

TL;DR

UnblockPiP does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything the App stores stays on your device. There are no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no tracking, and no user accounts.

1. Who We Are

The App is developed and operated by Valeriya Pekar as an independent developer. The App is distributed exclusively through Apple's App Store.

2. Information Stored On Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device only. None of this is uploaded to us or any third party:

  • Recently-shared video URLs. When you share a video URL to the App from Safari or another app, the URL and page title are added to a local "Recently Shared" list (up to 30 entries) so you can replay them in one tap. You can clear this list at any time from the home screen.
  • Daily Picture in Picture launch counter. The App keeps a count of how many times you've launched Picture in Picture today, in order to enforce the free-tier daily limit. This counter resets each calendar day.
  • Subscription state. Whether you have an active subscription, and the expiry of the most recent verified transaction, so the App can stay correctly unlocked between launches.
  • Extension preferences. Settings you toggle in the Safari extension popup (Detach button on/off, overlay skin, speed control per site, etc.) are stored by Safari's extension storage.
  • Onboarding / install state. Markers that let the App tell whether you are upgrading from a prior version (so existing users keep their access) versus a fresh install.

All of the above lives in an App Group container that is shared only between the App and its Safari Web Extension on your device. It is never transmitted, uploaded, or made accessible to us.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information.
  • We do not create user accounts.
  • We do not track your browsing activity, video viewing history, or any URLs other than the ones you explicitly share to the App.
  • We do not use analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or advertising identifiers.
  • We do not include any third-party tracking or social-media SDKs.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or location.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

The App offers a single auto-renewing subscription, processed entirely by Apple via the App Store using StoreKit. We never see your payment details, credit-card numbers, Apple ID password, or billing address — Apple handles all of that.

To confirm your subscription status, the App uses Apple's built-in StoreKit framework to ask the device's own copy of your App Store receipt. This check happens locally on your device. No subscription data is sent to any server we control.

Apple may collect and process information about your purchase as described in Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Picture in Picture and Web Pages

When you use the Safari extension or the in-app PiP player, the App loads the video page or stream directly in a WebKit-based view on your device. The website you visit may collect data about your visit according to that website's own privacy policy — UnblockPiP has no control over or visibility into third-party site behaviour. The App does not inject tracking code or send any data about your activity to us or to third parties.

6. Permissions

The Safari extension requests permission to access websites you browse so that it can detect a <video> element on the page and surface the Detach button when you tap it. The extension does not read, record, or transmit page content for any other purpose.

The App requests permission to handle Siri & Shortcuts intents so you can ask Siri to open a URL in Picture in Picture. Voice input is processed by Apple's Siri service and not by us.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App in a way we should be aware of, please contact us.

8. Data Retention

Because all data stays on your device, you control retention. Deleting the App removes its data. The "Clear" button in the Recently Shared inbox removes the URL list immediately. Subscription state is removed if you uninstall the App; reinstalling and tapping Restore on the paywall will recover an active subscription.

9. Your Rights

You can:

  • Access all data the App stores by simply opening the App — it's all visible to you.
  • Delete all data by uninstalling the App, or by clearing the inbox in the home screen for the URL list only.
  • Cancel your subscription at any time through iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, as described in our Terms of Service.

Because we do not collect or hold any data, there is nothing for us to delete or export on our side.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. The revised version takes effect when posted at this URL, and the "Last updated" date will be revised. Material changes will be reflected in-app at the next launch when reasonably possible.
