XCString Translator Privacy Policy
XCString Translator Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 20, 2026
Last Updated: July 20, 2026
At Local XCStrings AI Translator ("we", "our", or "us"), we prioritize your privacy and data security above all else. This Privacy Policy outlines how our macOS application handles your data.
Our App Store privacy label reflects this policy: Data Not Collected.
1. Zero Data Collection
We do not collect, store, transmit, or share any of your personal data, code, or localizable files (.xcstrings).
- Your Files Stay on Your Mac: All String Catalog files, developer comments, and translated strings remain strictly on your local machine.
- No Cloud AI Uploads: All AI translation operations are performed locally using on-device models. None of your app's text, strings, or comments are sent to external cloud servers or third-party AI APIs.
- No Analytics, No Tracking: We do not use analytics tools, advertising networks, telemetry frameworks, or any third-party SDKs.
2. On-Device AI Engines
The app ships with an on-device Qwen 3 language model bundled inside the application binary. It also integrates with Apple's on-device Translation framework and, optionally, with your locally installed Ollama server. All three engines run entirely on your Mac's GPU or Neural Engine — no text you translate is ever transmitted over the internet.
If you choose to use a local Ollama server:
- All communications occur strictly via
localhostrequests on your own computer. - No data leaves your local system during these requests.
3. Local Files and Backups
When you save changes to a .xcstrings catalog, the app automatically creates an .xcstrings.bak backup file next to the original (for Pro users). These files reside only on your Mac and can be deleted by you at any time using Finder or through the "Restore from Backup" action within the app.
4. In-App Purchases & Payments
All transactions, including the Pro Lifetime In-App Purchase, are processed securely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit 2 infrastructure.
- We do not collect or store your payment details, billing address, or financial information.
- Apple manages all purchase records, entitlement checks, and payment processing.
- Your Pro Lifetime entitlement is tied to your Apple Account and can be restored on any Mac signed into the same account via the Restore Purchases button on the paywall screen.
- All refund requests are handled directly by Apple through your Apple Account. We cannot issue refunds on Apple's behalf. See for details.
5. Crash Reports
We do not collect crash reports. If you have opted in to sharing analytics with Apple via macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may provide us with anonymized crash logs that contain no personal identifiable information and no source strings from your String Catalogs.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Because we do not collect any personal data, there is nothing to retain, export, or delete on our servers. Any local data — String Catalogs, .bak backup files, purchase entitlements cached by StoreKit — resides only on your Mac and is under your full control at all times.
7. Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect any information from children of any age. If you believe a child has interacted with this app, please contact us at the email below.
8. Users in the EU (GDPR) and California (CCPA)
If you are located in the European Union or California, the same applies as to every other user of the app: we do not process, collect, sell, or share any personal data. You retain all rights under applicable privacy law (GDPR, CCPA, or your local equivalent), and you may contact us at any time using the email below to exercise them.
9. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus. Any disputes arising from the use of the app are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Cyprus.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in app functionality or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
